The Luna Park Facelift

Vivid Sydney is the world’s largest festival of light, technology and ideas, attracting over two million visitors annually. But every year, Sydney’s iconic Luna Park face watched from the dark. Until this year. To launch Samsung’s Galaxy S9, Vivid-goers used the phone’s new AR Emoji feature to beam their face onto the face of Luna Park – creating the festival’s must-have souvenir.

To catch maximum foot traffic, a bespoke installation was constructed on the Opera House Forecourt.

People got to create their own AR Emoji and see it projected live as the face of Luna Park.

They then instantly received a shot to share on social, giving Samsung the biggest social presence at Vivid.

It made the News and the Today show, plus over 27,000 people got their 15 seconds of fame, with hundreds of thousands more visiting the installation.
